Dometic partners with National Breast Cancer Foundation through Follow the Sun competition

The competition for the road trip of a lifetime, Dometic Follow the Sun 2016, has partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to provide the added incentive for entrants to cruise in comfort for a cause and help in the quest to raise awareness and save lives.

NBCF ambassador and Melbourne mum, Sarah Singer, survived her battle with cancer at just 32, inspiring her to leave the corporate life behind and move the family from London to Melbourne for a better quality of life and to realise her dreams.

As Ms Singer discovered, nothing changes a person’s perspective on life more than a cancer diagnosis and now 40, she wants to be able to encourage others to fulfil their dreams, such as travelling Australia and help others overcome their battles.

Market leader in solutions for mobile living, Dometic Australia, is about enriching people’s experiences away from home and they are able to help promote this via the major competition Follow the Sun.

In its third time running, the Dometic Follow the Sun competition provides the opportunity for three couples or families to win an expenses-paid three-month trip around Australia as Dometic Ambassadors, worth up to $35,000.

As part of its partnership with the NBCF, one winning duo will be leaving a trail of pink on their journey, cruising in comfort in the foundation’s Pink Minnie Caravan and giving those without their own recreational vehicle a chance to win.

Travelling thousands of kilometres and visiting a diverse range of destinations across the country, the Pink Minnie’s journey will share a message of awareness and hope for the future for breast cancer patients to thousands of Australians.

Ms Singer said Follow the Sun was a win-win partnership no matter which way you looked at it.

“This is a wonderful partnership. Dometic’s Follow the Sun competition now takes giving to a different level – engaging with people on the road all over Australia and creating further awareness for people in one of the most serious health problems in Australia,” she said.

“The lucky winners get to ‘live the dream’ and take the Pink Minnie Caravan or their RV on a trip of a lifetime and they can potentially save lives by funding research that makes a real difference in the way breast cancer is detected, treated and managed in Australia. To be honest, I wish it was me going!"

NBCF Corporate Partnerships Executive Jackie Horwill said she was grateful for Dometic’s support and is looking forward to raising further awareness through the unique Follow the Sun road trip.

“We love to partner with compassionate corporations like Dometic who, through their fundraising efforts, will make a real difference to the lives of breast cancer sufferers,” she said.

Dometic Marketing Manager Justine Schuller said the addition of the NBCF Pink Minnie Caravan to this year’s competition would make this journey even more meaningful to the winning duo.

“We are excited to announce our platinum partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, an organisation which is raising money for vital research to find a cure for breast cancer, with the objective of 0 deaths in Australia from breast cancer by 2030,” said Ms Schuller.

"Having the Pink Minnie Caravan is a bonus as now even more people can enter the competition and it's free!"

“On top of fundraising for a great cause, Follow the Sun gives us the opportunity to engage with Australian communities and help others experience life on the road with Dometic products, that ultimately provide smart solutions to satisfy people's essential needs when living mobile.”

The Dometic Follow the Sun competition entry closes 8 May 2016, winners will be notified on 3 June 2016 and the road trip will head off from August to October 2016.
