SA invited to "cruise for a cause" as the Dometic Follow the Sun road trip competition launches in Adelaide

SA invited to

Contributing to the continual growth of the South Australian caravan, camping and motorhome industry, Dometic are launching their Follow the Sun competition at the upcoming 2016 Let's Go Caravan & Camping Lifestyle Show 17 – 21 February. The competition will see three winners taken on a three-month road trip, whilst cruising for a cause.

In their efforts to promote the recreational vehicle industry and mobile living lifestyle, Dometic has announced it has joined forces with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to give the opportunity for anyone to win one of three expenses-paid road trips, including one in the NBCF’s show-stopping Pink Minnie Caravan.

Dometic and NBCF are reaching out to the booming $17 billion, 587,000-strong Australian recreational vehicle population by giving away two ‘RV RENOs’. Winners receive up to $25,000 worth of Dometic mobile living products tailored to their vehicles, $10,000 in selected travel expenses and a once in a lifetime chance to help to save lives.

The third winner doesn’t need a RV. They’ll get the Pink Minnie Caravan and a vehicle to tow it around Australia for the three-month trip.

All three Dometic Follow the Sun winners will travel through cities and towns across Australia, holding Happy Hours at various holiday parks, while also spreading awareness about breast cancer and raising vital funds for critical breast cancer research.

“Together with NBCF we are in search of travel enthusiasts to cruise in comfort in the name of breast cancer research and having a great time seeing the sights of Australia,” Dometic Marketing Manager Justine Schuller said.

“This year, whether you have a vehicle or not, you can enter. You just need a passion for travel and the desire to make a difference to the many Australians whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. The winners will be sharing messages of support and awareness throughout the duration of the journey.

“We invite everyone to visit Dometic’s stand J4, Jubilee Pavilion, at the Adelaide Let's Go Caravan & Camping Lifestyle Show, to check out the Pink Minnie and enter free, to be a part of what will be an incredible odyssey.

“Not only do we have the exciting Follow the Sun competition launching, but we are also raffling off a pink WAECO 22L icebox daily – with all proceeds going to NBCF. You can also purchase a 13L, 22L or a 55L pink Icebox, with 25% of every sale being donated to NBCF. This way, everyone can get involved in fundraising for a great cause!”

The two ‘RV RENO’ Follow the Sun competition winners will receive substantial makeovers with Dometic mobile living products including fridges, ovens, toilets and air conditioners - tailored to their individual vehicles, and $10,000 of selected travel expense costs.

The NBCF Pink Minnie winner will receive $10,000 in travel expenses, plus $5,000 worth of portable Dometic products to ensure they have the most comfortable travel experience possible while raising fund and awareness for the NBCF.

National Breast Cancer Foundation Corporate Partnerships Executive, Jackie Horwill, said the opportunity for one couple or family to cruise in comfort for a good cause, raising funds and sharing information about the NBCF throughout their journey, made this year’s competition special.

“There is an enormous and amazing community out there all across Australia living the dream. We are so excited to be able to reach out and take our message to those wonderful people as part of the Dometic Follow the Sun competition,” Ms Horwill said.

“We can’t wait to meet our newest ambassadors when they win, because they really are in for a life changing experience and they are going to do some extraordinary things for breast cancer research in this country.”

The chosen winners will become Dometic Ambassadors on their three-month journey, hosting ‘Follow the Sun - Happy Hours’ at predetermined stops along the way for members of the public.

Follow the Sun entries officially open on 17 February, the first day of the South Australia Let's Go Caravan & Camping Lifestyle Show, with entry booths at the Dometic stand and online submissions going live.
