Overview & Key Outcomes

Act for Kids is an Australian non-profit organisation that provides free therapy and support services for children and families who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing abuse and neglect.

Elevate was enlisted via a pro-bono agreement to increase awareness about Act for Kids’ One Less Present campaign. The call to action was to encourage parents to talk to their children about what they wanted for Christmas, and then ask them to donate this present to a child in need. The parent was then encouraged to donate the value of the gift to Act for Kids.

The media campaign included developing and implementing:

  • A communication strategy to ensure activities aligned with Act for Kids’ goals and objectives
  • Campaign assets for an agile and responsive national campaign, including key messages, media releases, pitch documents, media lists, and video/audio responses from spokespeople
  • A media launch to provide vision and interview opportunities
  • Engaging local Brisbane choirs from Voices of Birralee to sing for the One Less Present ‘12 Days of Christmas’ advertisement and media launch
  • Monitoring media clippings, reporting statistics and audience reach

Key Achievements to date:

Between October – December 2019, the Act For Kids’ One Less Present campaign achieved:

  • Calls to action included in 100% of media coverage secured
  • New donors increased by 57% compared to the previous year
  • Raised the profile of Act for Kids through media clippings reaching an audience of more than 2,839,800
  • Elevate’s work, along with other suppliers, encouraged webpage views to increase by 236% from the previous year, with the number of donations received increasing by 37%
  • Coverage was achieved across both national industry and Queensland media including Channel 7, Kidspot, ABC Radio, WIN News and local Quest newspapers
