Hassalls expands in to Western Australia

Following its successes in 2016, Hassalls, Australia’s leading resource industry experts, have expanded into Western Australia (WA).

The Queensland-based auctioneers held their first clearance sale in Perth last year, which saw more than 300 lots of trucks, trailers, light commercial vehicles, toolboxes and heavy earthmoving equipment worth several million sell to WA residents for a fraction of their retail value.

Hassalls made the decision on the back of increased demand for its services from key financial and mining figureheads in the state, appointing local Perth valuer Ashton Lloyd to head up the WA branch of the business.

Mr Lloyd, who has extensive experience as a valuer across the resource, transport, construction and engineering sectors within the region, believes Western Australia’s resources sector has experienced foundation shifts over the past six months.

“The state has seen increased productivity over the past quarter on the back of China’s demand for steel, which has driven iron ore value to a 2.5 year peak of $US92 per tonne,” Mr Lloyd said.

“Hassalls is looking to partner with resource industry players in WA to facilitate some huge on-site auctions and provide expert valuation services as they navigate this volatile period.”

With more than 15 years’ experience in remarketing, valuations and asset management, Hassalls has earned its reputation as Australia’s leading resources industry experts. The team was recently awarded the contract to auction off well over $7 million worth of equipment from Hunter Valley’s Drayton coal mine across a two-day on-site sale in March, and facilitated the full dispersal of more than $50 million worth of assets from the Curtis Island LNG Project in Central Queensland.

With sentiment across the state optimistic, Hassalls General Manager Steve Wall saw the move to WA as the next logical step for the growth of the business.

“Hassalls is proud of its reputation as leading resource experts, and opening this branch allows us to extend our local independent asset valuations and disposal services to clients on the west coast,” Mr Wall said.

“We’ve crafted a dedicated team of professionals, who possess an in-depth understanding of how WA’s markets operate, to carry out our key service offerings in remarketing, dispersal, valuations and asset management.”
