Do B2Bs need a social media presence?

Do B2Bs need a social media presence?

It’s easy to see why companies with a Business to Consumer model should have a major social media presence to engage directly with their consumers. But the question is, should a company with a Business to Business model also invest in a social media program? The answer is yes, and here’s why.

Digital presence - get noticed!

No matter your business model, it’s important to get your brand presence in as many relevant arenas as possible and these days it’s all about digital; having a great website, along with having a strong social media presence. And if you’re B2B, don’t just limit your company to being on LinkedIn.

In this day and age, no one switches off. That means the social media platforms that used to be reserved for personal interaction, are now places of research and news. They are therefore a great avenue to promote your products to the decision makers within businesses you’d like to engage with.

Having a social media presence also creates demand among consumers. Even though consumers don’t buy directly from you, they’ll see your beautiful products and they’ll go out and search for the products, or even ask stores about your brand.

Value add

Sharing wonderful content makes life easier for your customers as you’re providing them ready-made content they can share with their own consumers. This may include a suite of imagery and videos, including ‘how-to’ videos to describe how best to use your products. Producing great content also helps protect your brand as you’re showing examples of the best way the products can be promoted.

Credibility

Creating an effective social media program, within a comprehensive communication program, shows your business is credible and focused on long-term growth and success. It shows your company knows about the industry, knows how to communicate to both business customers and consumers and uses modern marketing to do this.
