5 digital marketing tools your business should be using

Technology is constantly evolving and is continuing to change the way businesses operate and how they reach customers. With so many tools available online, it can be almost impossible to know if you are using the right one for you or if your application is outdated. Even in such a cluttered market, there are a few platforms that stand out from the rest and drive positive results for businesses every day.

Here are five digital marketing tools that every business should use.

1.     Google AdWords

Google Adwords is a simple and effective way to direct people to your website. It’s easy to set up and very budget friendly. You simply pick a few key search terms that resonate with your business and Google will bid to position your website at the top of the search list, because let’s face it – who looks on page two of Google? As businesses set their own budget, it can be very cost-effective as you only pay when people click through to your content. This allows your business to be found easily and as it runs via Google, you can review the ad analytics to see online traffic.

2.     Re-Targeting Marketing

Studies have shown customers who shop online don’t purchase on the first go; they typically come back three or four more times to look at an item before purchasing. Retargeting aids this process by using cookies to follow shoppers around the web and display their favourite products in the ad spaces on their favourite websites. That pair of shoes you just looked at just magically appeared on your Facebook feed – that’s re-targeting. It’s also cost effective as you are targeting customers who are more likely to purchase.

 3.     Facebook and LinkedIn Ads

These platforms have made it near impossible for a business to be seen on social media without any advertising however, this is also extremely beneficial as you can create specific market segments based on audience demographics, interests, behaviours or contact information. Presenting your business in the best format for the platform is simple due to Facebook’s compatibility across platforms in almost every format, (with video the ‘en vogue’ medium). Facebook also has great analytics that illustrate the value of your ad campaigns showing key data such as engagement rates and cost per-clicks.

 4.     Hootsuite

Hootsuite is another fantastic tool that allows marketers to schedule and post content to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ from one place. Managing a business’ social media presence can be a full-time job and Hootsuite helps reduce time spent scheduling and writing content. The platform also provides paid analytics tools that allow you to report on your social activity, without having to jump between five different platforms.

5.     MailChimp

MailChimp is an automated electronic direct mail (EDM) tool that gives businesses the opportunity to build their potential customer database and communicate to them through customised emails. This is a great tool to place your service or product offering in front of targeted audience through a simple click of a button.

Although these tools are effective, simple to implement and serve a purpose, it doesn’t necessarily mean they should all be applied to your business.
