Facebook or workplace. Pick your platform

Facebook or workplace. Pick your platform

Are you keeping up to date with social media trends in business? Have you changed the way you work?

Doing the same thing that you have always done, will get you the same results, you’ve always had. Here at Elevate, we are always trying new tools and technologies not just to stay up to date, but also to make sure that we are well positioned to leverage these tools for our clients. We need to make sure that any tool we recommend is has a strong and measurable relevancy for our clients’ business or that there is a real ROI in terms of cost, time or savings.

Many readers will be aware that in 2016, Facebook launched their workplace browser-based networking service however they also recently released their chat-based app (currently in beta testing).

Originally known as Facebook at Work, Workplace by Facebook allows easy uptake with no need for complicated training. Similar to Slack, Yammer and Chatter the tool is great for creating more engaged employees and anyone can install the beta as long as they have Windows 7 and above or macOS 10.9 (Mavericks).

Basically the app is similar to the original Facebook and Messenger. Users can set up groups and invite staff to share content in these spaces. Users can post content, images text and videos and comment and like this content. They can also create polls and share documents, events and albums.

More than 14,000 companies are currently using the tool. Are you one of them or will you be a later adopter?

So what is the benefit to your company?

The benefits of this tool are easy uptake and lack of training required given the widespread use of Facebook. Additionally, the pricing is free for the entry-level product and $3 per organisational user per month for the first 1,000 users, reducing in cost depending on the size of the organisation.

For smaller sized companies, it is a great tool for creating an instant social network, intranet and group messaging channel, reducing email clutter and creating an easily adopted platform for employees to engage, communicate and share content.

We recommend this tool for small to medium sized companies, those with mobile employees and those who require a cost effective solution for staff engagement, retention and content sharing.
